A half-century of longevity isn?t achieved by every non-profit, but we?ve done it! 50 years and goin? strong, the Folklore Society is throwing a party, so come on out to Glen Echo Park and help us celebrate with great food, a live concert with multi-media show, and much more! We?ll start at 5 PM with hor d?oeuvres and an old-time barbecue catered by a company who has been serving up grilled delights for over 40 years. Barbecued chicken, long-smoked and tender brisket, grilled portobello mushrooms, mac 'n cheese, vegetarian baked beans, salad with grilled corn, and sunflower seeds, grilled stuffed acorn squash for a vegan/vegetarian choice. The ticket price includes the Sunday Night Dance, one free drink (and a cash bar-- wine and beer) will be open most of the evening. Drinks will be just $5.00After dinner, sit back and enjoy the show emceed by our own Mary Cliff. 11 of your favorite artists will offer up a special song for the occasion. Featured are:Jennifer Cutting and Steve WinickOrrin StarRoustabout --Bruce Hutton and two othersBob ClaytonAndy Wallace -a founder and former presidentRiki Schneyer -- daughter of foundersCalico JennyBill Mayhew -- storytellerCathy Fink and Marcy MarxerKathy Westra and George Stephens After the ?picnic?, and the show, join us in the Song Circle, with regulars from the Open Sing, the Gospel Sing, the Doo Wop Sing, and Shape-Note Singing. Instruments welcome. Or head on over to the Contra Dance?or do a little of both! Such a deal! The advance admission ticket includes dinner, a $5.00 glass of wine or beer, a concert with media show, and the contra dance (with a birthday cake on the break)--- all wrapped into one ticket price of $35.00. And for 12 and under, tickets are just $15.00. If you are feeling generous?buy a whole table for 10 for $325.00.
