An Evening of Intoxicating Music with Sally Rogers & Howie Bursen

Sally Rogers (singer and dulcimer player, occasional songwriter) and Howie Bursen (banjoist extraordinaire, Sally's husband) will play for us at the intimate Washington DC Revel's office, rehearsal, and performance space at 531 Dale Drive (near Wayne Ave.), Silver Spring. Maryland, on Friday, July 25, 2014 at 8:00 pm.

Sally Rogers and Howie Bursen blend inspired songwriting, great harmony singing and brilliant instrumental work into music that stands the test of time. .

Sally Rogers is a folksinger songwriter, children?s entertainer and educator, author, public school music teacher and visual artist. Her songs have not only become part of the folk music repertoire but have been included in national school music texts and in Quaker and Unitarian hymn books. Sally is nationally known for her appearances on the Minnesota Public Radio program, A Prairie Home Companion and for her ?remarkable,? ?mesmerizing? voice and impeccable guitar and Appalachian dulcimer playing. Sally has fifteen recordings to her credit and has toured Europe, China, Hungary, Poland, England, Scotland and the United States.

Howie Bursen is known for his fine clawhammer banjo work, guitar playing and songwriting. He has released three recordings of his own and has been a guest on many others. The intoxicating quality of the duo?s music may come partially from Howie?s day job. He is also a renowned wine master and consultant to winemakers in New England.

A Washington Post reviewer summed up a Sally Rogers/Howie Bursen concert by noting their ?Sterling guitar-banjo-dulcimer work...Better yet, Rogers? achingly sweet voice imbues her ballads with classic poignance even as it lifts the spirit.?

Admission is $15 for members of FSGW or Revels, otherwise $20 for non-members.
