Like her late half-brother Pete, Peggy is a multi-instrumentalist, song-catcher, political activist, songwriter, and scion of the first family of folk music, the Seegers, Peggy Seeger is truly a living legend. She was a role model for the feminist song movement and helped revive the English folk music scene in the 50's and 60's. Since then, Peggy has accomplished and contributed greatly to the folk music field in Britain and the U.S.
Peggy has not been content to sit on her laurels and though she is now 78, age has not staled her infinite variety or caused her to slow down her frenetic schedule of writing, touring, recording, and speaking out against injustice. For the past decade or so, she has divided her time between America, the country of her birth, and England, the land where she raised her children.
We think everyone will fit into the Washington Ethical Society auditorium, but to make sure, we recommend that members make a reservation and non-members buy advanced tickets using Brown Paper Tickets. Tickets are $15 for non-members plus a small handling fee. There is no handling fee for FSGW Members.
