When
01 Jan 2008
3:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Location
St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Arlington, VA
The annual New Year's Day Sacred Harp Singing opens the year with the blessing of four-part harmony. Singers gather from a wide area for an extra-long singing from the beloved shape-note tunebook, the Sacred Harp, often augmented by seasonal favorites from Christian Harmony or the American Christmas Harp. Loaner copies of the first two will be available. All are welcome to join in or just listen. We'll break for a potluck supper around 6:00 and resume singing afterward. This event takes the place of the fourth-Sunday singing not held in December.
