Bridget Fitzgerald and John Gallagher present traditional songs and tunes from Ireland and Appalachia. Bridget is a fine sean nos (old style) singer in the Irish tradition. She was a founding member of Cherish the Ladies and has taught master classes at a number of folk music camps. Influenced by his musical friendship with Melvin Wine and other traditional musicians, John is attracted to an older regional style of fiddling and singing. They will be joined by old time musicians Scott Prouty and Ellen Hatton. These four have an excelent ear for good old musical styles! Bridget Fitzgerald and John Gallagher present traditional songs and tunes from Ireland and Appalachia. Bridget is a fine sean nos (old style) singer in the Irish language. She is a master of the regional style of Connemara, the Irish-speaking area of Fitzgerald's birth in County Galway Ireland. She was a founding member of Cherish the Ladies and has taught master classes at a number of folk music camps. Influenced by his musical friendship with Melvin Wine and other traditional musicians, John is attracted to an older regional style of fiddling and singing. Bridget and John will be joined by Scott Prouty and Ellen Hatton. Scott has placed in and won fiddle contests in WV, taught fiddle classes at the Augusta Heritage Center, and often contributes the recording projects documenting traditional musicians. Collectively John, Scott, and Ellen have performed as a group playing concerts and dances in WV and the DC area. These four friends love good old music and their singing and playing brings forth the common origins of their styles.
