The Nyckelharpa is a traditional Swedish keyed fiddle. If you've never heard the instrument before, you have a rare treat in store. (Click on the sound sample for an idea of what wondrous sounds these strings can produce.) If you are familiar with the instrument, be excited, since we've set up a chance to listen to and learn from two of Sweden's certified nyckelharpa experts. Elin Skoglund and Edward Anderzon are certified tradition bearers, Riksspelm?n, of Swedish folkmusic from the provinces of Uppland and S?dermanland. They both work as musicians and teachers and have had workshops, dances and concerts in Sweden, in Canada and in USA. Both play several types of nyckelharpa and Edward also plays the violin. Please reserve a seat for this concert!Space is expected to be tight at this concert. We are asking that you reserve a spot in advance by calling Christie Burns at 270-799-3909. Reservations will be held until at least 7:50 p.m. Attendees without reservations will be seated only if there is room. After you've made a seat reservation, you may contact Loretta Kelley for information about driving directions, parking advice, or transit information, if you need it.
