Robert Cromartie leads Dances for All Ages! (Family Dance)
When
11 Mar 2007
3:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Location
Glen Echo Town Hall Upstairs, Glen Echo, MD
From North Carolina, the famous Robert Cromartie will be calling to the amazing New York City-based dance band Grand Picnic. We are honored to have Sam Zygmuntowicz (fiddle and world reknowned violin maker), Jody Kruskal (who re-invented the playing of the anglo concertina), Michael Gorin (fiddle), Marco Brehm (bass), and Marnen Laibow-Koser (subbing for Bill Peek on piano). This band emerged from the Brooklyn NY traditional music scene over 20 years ago and its high-energy approach has been inspiring dancers ever since. The band has performed its unique blend of traditional and original material at community dances, festivals, and dance weekends from Vermont and Kentucky to Florida and Oregon. Grand Picnic's now-classic eponymous recording is available at http://cdbaby.com/cd/grandpicnic. Individually, they have many other recordings, so come prepared!
