Piedmont blues guitarPittsburgh-based acoustic guitar virtuoso, Ernie Hawkins, plays and sings blues, ragtime and gospel. Based upon the early 1900's east coast Piedmont and Texas steel-string fingerpicking styles Ernie's performances have captivated audiences throughout the world. Ernie studied extensively with such masters as Rev. Gary Davis and worked with Son House, Mance Lipscomb and Fred McDowell. Ernie has performed and taught all over the US, Canada, Europe and Japan. Ernie has become one of the best living legacies to this rich and magnificent American musical heritage. "Hawkins has emerged as the foremast master of Gary Davis' guitar style."

--Acoustic Guitar magazine"Hawkins is now an undeniable master in the Piedmont tradition and stands with Brownie McGee and John Jackson. He's so proficient that the only proponents of that style who are more technically adventurous are Blind Blake and the Rev. Gary Davis."

--Blues Access Ernie Hawkins will also be teaching a blues guitar workshop on Sunday afternoon before the concert from 1:00 to 2:30 pm, at Archie Edwards' Old Barbershop 2007 Bunker Hill Rd NE, Washington D C. ($20).A review you ought to read!
