English Folk Club Night with Derek Seed - MEMBERS & GUESTS (Special Event)

  • 19 Apr 2005
  • 8:00 PM - 10:30 PM
  • Home of Dennis Cook, Oberlin, OH
English Folk Club Night at the Cooks with special guest Derek Seed: A house concert with the flavor of an English folk club. Bring your own beer -- we'll have sodas & chips --oops! we mean crisps. Each half of the evening will start with a few songs from local singers (let Judy Cook know in advance if you want to be one of the floor singers). At the intermission --oops! we mean the interval -- we'll have a raffle. It's all part of the tradition.Derek Seed, a fine unaccompanied singer from Eastbourne, Sussex will entertain us with a concert of selections from his vast repertoire of traditional English songs from the 19th & early 20th centuries. If you heard him with the Shellback Chorus, come hear some of his non-shanty songs -- many from the industrial revolution.Suggested donation $5. And bring a few extra dollars for the raffle - it all goes to the special guest. "Derek Seed has an impressive repertoire of traditional and contemporary songs. His blend of accomplished singing styles make him an ideal concert or folk-club guest."

--The late Bob Copper, M.B.E. MEMBERS & GUESTS
