Walt Koken and Claire Milliner/Fiddle and Banjo (Workshop)

  • 04 Dec 2004
  • 2:00 PM - 4:45 PM
  • Doria Howe and Michael Stein's, Washington, DC
Walt Koken and Clare Milliner, who live in Chester County PA, play incredibly beautiful Old Time fiddle/banjo and fiddle/fiddle duets - as well as playing solo. Walt, of 1970?s Highwood Stringband fame, has also produced three solo banjo CDs. Clare?s extensive and eclectic repertoire of fiddle tunes reflects her work of many years, collecting and annotating over 1300 tunes. Walt and Clare have a widely acclaimed CD of fiddle/banjo duets on the Mudthumper label called "Just Tunes ", as well as a more recent recording with Pete Peterson and Kellie Allen in a larger stringband format called "Orpheus Supertones Bound to Have a Little Fun ". They are also known for playing for dances with their band, ?Cacklin' Hens and Roosters Too.? Their workshops are fun and challenging, and their concerts - well, they?re just so fine!
