Dance and Music from the HighlandsGet your Labor Day weekend off to a rollicking start! The fresh and exciting dance and music of Highland Soles is rooted in the traditions of Scotland and Cape Breton, with a good dose of innovation. Join Laura Scott, Ed Pearlman, and their family for an evening of high-flying Highland dance, hard-hitting Cape Breton stepdance, and feisty Scottish Highland folk dances and new choreographies, all to the sound of lively and soulful traditional and original tunes.Dancer Laura Scott (called "a showstopper" by the Boston Globe) has performed with Natalie MacMaster, Battlefield Band, Alasdair Fraser, Joe Cormier, Tony Cuffe, Seamus Connolly, and many more. Fiddler Ed Pearlman, one of America?s top fiddlers in the expressive and fiery Scottish style. He was director of Boston Scottish Fiddle Club for 18 years and of the Boston Celtic Festival 7 years. Their son Neil is an awesome, innovative young pianist and mandolin player; he stepdanced with the Natalie MacMaster Band throughout New England and in New Jersey. Their daughter Lilly is a captivating Highland dancer, spirited fiddler and a dreamy pianist.Note the 7:30 start time for this event.
