Traditional South Indian SingersSri. R.N. Thyagarajan and Dr. R.N. Tharanathan, popularly known as the Rudrapatnam Brothers , hail from a reputed family of South Indian musicians. Among vocal duos, the Rudrapatnam Brothers distinguished themselves especially for the exquisite blending of their voices. They have been reviewed as "worthy torch bearers of the Alattor style of duet singing and worthy harbingers of the Ramnad Krishnan way of generating flashes in the concert." They have earned a wide reputation amongst musicians, music lovers and critics all over the world for their rich erudition, mellifluous performance, as well as their strict adherence to traditional values in Carnatic Music. They describe themselves as "…traditionalists to the core."The singers will be accompanied by Mysore V. Srikanth on violin and by Dr. P. K. Swaminathan on mrudangam (South Indian percussion), both highly sought after artists in their own right. Swaminathan currently runs the Sri Umayalpuram K. Sivaraman School of Mrudangam in Maryland.
