Robbin Schaffer calls with the Hoover Uprights (Sunday Contra)
When
31 Aug 2003
7:30 PM - 10:30 PM
Location
Glen Echo Park Spanish Ballroom, Glen Echo, MD
Robbin Schaffer calls with the Hoover Uprights: Bill Schmidt (fiddle), Kevin Enoch (banjo-uke or bass), Kate Brett (banjo), and John Schwab (guitar). News flash--the Hoover Uprights again took 1st place in the traditional band contest (out of 60-some-odd bands) at the 2003 Appalachian String Band Festival in Clifftop, WV! (They first won in 2001.) Kate Brett also took 2nd place in the banjo contest at Clifftop. The band has been playing together since 1993, though they've all been playing old-time music individually for a lot longer than that. Bill also plays with the Double Decker String Band, and Bill, Kevin, and John belong to the Wabash Cannibals (along with Ron Cole, who plays fiddle in that band). Kevin's also a member of Savoir Faire Cajun Band and often plays with Squeeze Bayou.
