Rescheduled for this Spring, now that he's got his voice back. Come hear Maine singer, raconteur and humorist Kendall Morse, an erstwhile marine fisheries captain armed with a guitar.FSGW is pleased to present long-time friend Kendall Morse for the final program of the 2002-2003 season. Known for his traditional songs and stories of the Maine coast, the show promises to be a treat for all members.Kendall Morse was born and grew up in Machias, Maine, in a large family of storytellers and musicians who sang and played everything from tobacco cans to didgeridoos. His interest in folk and traditional songs began at a very early age remained strong. He has performed in every corner of Maine, in concerts and festivals nationwide, and internationally. Kendall's music expresses his closeness to and appreciation of Maine traditions. His excellent memory and keen wit provide him with a beautiful collection of material. His stories and songs, and his masterfully dry delivery of them, have found admiration, respect and delight wherever he goes. Albums include Lights Along the Shore (Folk Legacy) and Segulls and Summer People (Folk Legacy). A grandnephew of Machias' famous storyteller, Uncle Curt Morse, who was locally known for his inability to tell the truth. Kendall's long association with Uncle Curt marked the beginning of what is now a legendary collection of Maine humor and downeast stories. He is the author of the book Stories told in the Kitchen. Kendall has sung and recorded the traditional music of the British Isles, and has performed with musicians such as Nick Apollonia, Gordon Bok, and many others. He has been voted Folksinger of the Year three years by the Maine Country Music Association and was inducted into the Maine Country Music Hall of Fame in 1995.This is one show you don?t want to miss!
