Stories in American and Celtic Folk MusicJED MARUM blends traditional songs and stories from the experience of Celtic and British Isles immigrants in North America. Some of his songs are originals, others are traditional, others are by the finest writers, often describing the Irish-American life as it relates to American history. As one born in Boston but living in Texas of late, he's begun to investigate and explore in music and tales the migration of Celtic peoples from the Eastern U.S. to the American West and Southwest. JED ACCOMPANIES HIMSELF on banjo, harmonica, six string, high strung and baritone guitar. He has appropriately been described as an 'American folk singer with Celtic roots.' Some folks may remember him from his appearances at the FSGW Getaway a couple of years ago, both as a soloist and as one of the unforgettable Beef Brothers.A SING-AROUND WILL FOLLOW the concert, so that Jed can sample the sort of music we make in our region. The combination of his fine, controlled tenor, poetic lyrics and guitar and banjo mastery produce music that pulls at the heart and encourages the imagination to come along. Marum is an artist who can make a niche genre, even one with as large a following as Celtic folk, his own, without abandoning the mainstream folkies (like me) who would sure miss him.
