Ted Hodapp calls to music by the New Atomic City String Band (Sunday Contra)
When
08 Dec 2002
7:30 PM - 10:30 PM
Location
Glen Echo Park Bumper Car Pavilion, Glen Echo, MD
Ted Hodapp (here in Washington for a year) calls to music by the New Atomic City String Band (mutated from the Atomic City Rhythm Rascals): Andrea Hoag (fiddle), Evan Carawan (hammer dulcimer), David Lovett (banjo & guitar), and Jeff Hersk (bass). Many of us know Andrea Hoag from fiddle lessons, Scandinavian events, or her local bands. Evan Carawan is a second-generation hammer dulcimer player from the foothills of the Blue Ridge who has absorbed both Appalachian and Celtic influences and developed a weaving, improvisational style of his own. David Lovett founded the Atomic City Rhythm Rascals and writes original dance tunes in traditional styles. He plays banjos in the clawhammer, Scruggs, and melodic styles, as well as guitar. Jeff Hersk (who plays guitar with Carnival Knowledge) rounds out the band on bass.
