BOB FOX got his start as a 'floor singer' in the folk clubs of Washington, England (up in the Northeast) some three decades ago. He collects both traditional and contemporary folk songs, and presents them with his strong, velvety voice, one of the best on the British folk music scene. He usually accompanies himself with guitar, often in the driving English rhythmic style, but is also quite capable of playing a mean piano.A PERIOD AS FOLK ARTIST IN RESIDENCE for the District of Blyth Valley and music development worker for Easington District Council gave him the opportunity to discover a photographic archive and inspired him to produce a songs/slide show with Benny Graham celebrating the rich and varied culture of the coal mining communities of Durham and Northumberland entitled 'How Are You Off for Coals?' The collection of traditional and contemporary songs was issued as a CD on Fellside. But his interests go far beyond the coalfields of Northeast England.BOB FOX has backed up Richard and Linda Thompson and Ralph McTell, and toured with Fairport Convention. This fall, he's finally on tour as a soloist in America.Fox always was one of the scene's superior singers and his voice is as confident and ebullient as it ever was . . .

Colin Irwin - Folk Roots. . . one of the truly great voices from the North East with musicianship second to none.
