Eddie Pennington, 2001 NEA Heritage Fellowship award winner, is the country's leading exponent of the complex finger-picking guitar style pioneered by Merle Travis. Eddie comes from Princeton, in Western Kentucky, the area that gave birth to this unique style. He will be accompanied by his son and David and Linda Lay. Kentucky state folklorist Bob Gates will introduce Eddie and conduct an interview for the archive, as will all folklorists working with artists during this series.
