The Beans: Traditional HarmoniesTHE BEANS - Massachusetts singers Jim and Cindy Bean, along with Steve Sullwold - return to FSGW. Based in the historic whaling port of New Bedford, The Beans have an innate feel for shanties and other songs of the sea, both traditional and contemporary. However, it is their close vocal harmonies for which they are best known, weaving their voices together seamlessly, whether they're singing a rousing shanty, alove song, or a traditional gospel tune.THEY PERFORM both a cappella and accompanied, playing a variety of instruments including guitar, Appalachian dulcimer, four- and five-string banjos, mandolin, and concertina. Their music reveals the pleasure they have singing together, with a close friendship that parallels their close harmonies.THE BEANS have been performing together for more than 10 years, and have been regular performers at the NOMAD, NEFFA, Mystic Sea Music, and Eisteddfod folk festivals in New England. A concert by The Beans is a chance to hear a wide variety of good songs, old and new, with plenty of great choruses for harmonizing.
