Time, as before,is 2:00 - 5:00 p.m.Norman learned many of the classics of Scots ballad literature from some of the greatest traditional singers -- singers for whom these stories-in-song were part of everyday life. Singers like Jeannie Robertson would gather with members of her clan and not only sing these ballads, but also discuss their events and characters. Norman hasagreed to spend three hours with FSGW's ballad-loving community singing some of his unusual and rare versions of Scots ballads, and talking about the people from whom he learned them. This is a rare opportunity for an intensive look at the ballad-singing tradition in Norman's nativeAberdeenshire -- and to hear many more ballads than he'll have time to sing in his formal program on the evening of the 19th. Come hear Norman sing at least some ballads during the program Saturday evening at Washington Ethical Society.
