The energetic Beth Molaro calls to music by Taconic Tonic. Beth is known for her quick no-nonsense walk throughs and effective teaching. She calls high energy dances specializing in rip roaring squares and contras that make you go ahhhhhhhh. The squares are called southern style, fast paced and souped up. Dancers who think that they don't like squares are often surprised by Beth's squares. Fiddler George Wilson lives near Albany and has played fiddle at contra dances for over 20 years in the Northeast. His musical interests also include Cape Breton, French-Canadian and Southern styles. Pianist Becky Ashenden and guitarist Chuck Corman live in Shelburne, Massachusetts and either they or George must cross the Taconic Mountains to unite with the other. Their collaboration as a trio has led to a mix of Celtic and Balkan sounds influenced by Uncle Dave Macon, Leadbelly and even Scandinavian music. To maintain the integrity of Celtic and Balkan music they use just the right instrumentation whenever possible (accordion, tambura and banjo just to name a few). Whatever ethnic style they're playing, Taconic Tonic presents lively music for dancing or just downright listening pleasure.
