Peter Ostroushko and Dirk Freymuth--Dazzling Mandolin and Guitar VirtuosityWashingtonians will have a rare opportunity to hear one of the finest mandolin and fiddle players in the world today, Peter Ostroushko, performing with the equally extraordinary guitarist Dirk Freymuth in a special FSGW concert on July 28 at 8pm at Northern Virginia Community College. Peter Ostroushko has come to be regarded as one of the finest mandolin and fiddle players in acoustic music. Where Ostroushko is at his most passionate is when he plays Ostroushko --a rich ethnic mix at the heart of which is his Ukrainian heritage. His term for his gumbo of musical styles is sluz duz, a phrase borrowed from his mother meaning, roughly over the edge or off his rocker. Dirk Freymuth performs throughout the United States, Europe and Canada, playing everything from rock and jazz to medieval and traditional music. Dirk is a compelling live performer on acoustic and electric guitar, lute, banjo, viola da gamba and other stringed instruments. He is an innovative, in-demand session guitar player and a creative composer and arranger of pop, classical and international music for recordings, performance and film. Dirk has accompanied Peter on several tours since 2000 and can be heard on Peter's latest recording, Sacred Heart. Advance tickets may be purchased by mailing a check payable to FSGW, to Ostroushko Concert, c/o J. Woods, 8401 Cedar St., Silver Spring, MD 20910. Please enclose a stamped self-addressed envelope. Orders received before July 20 will be mailed; orders received after that date will be held at the door. Individual members of FSGW are limited to one ticket at member prices; family memberships may purchase up to four tickets at member prices. Ticket cost is $14 for FSGW members, $18 for nonmembers, and $7 for children under 13. Please include a phone number or e-mail address so that you will be notified in the event that the concert is sold out by the time your order is received. Doors will be open at 7:30 p.m. Advance ticket holders will be seated first
