Positional Dancing in Contra with Louise Siddons!
Music by Linda Game on fiddle and Ann Porcella on guitar.
Saturday, January 4, 1:00 - 3:30 pm with an extra caller debrief from 3:30 - 4
Can a better understanding of patterns and flow help you become a more confident contra dancer? In this gender-free, role-free workshop we’ll combine high-energy contra dancing with attention to transitions, choreographic conventions, and relationships between dancers.
Positional dancing is the idea that what you do in a contra dance depends on where you are, not who you are. Experienced dancers know this in our bodies - so for some, this workshop is about putting into words, and our conscious minds, what our bodies and muscle memory already know. For new dancers, it will demystify some of the chaos! No matter what your experience level, you’ll find that this workshop gives you tools to anticipate the flow and logic of dance choreography, which means you’ll learn faster, remember the choreography better, and dance it more fluidly than before.
The workshop will be called positionally.
$10 for Dancers and Callers
