Stories from the Kalevala

Flirting. Death. Revenge. Magic. The Kalevala is a collection of stories from Finland, passed down from the days when storytelling was for grown-ups. It has inspired artists and authors such as J.R.R. Tolkien and Philip Pullman, and is celebrated by a national holiday in Finland--Kalevala Day, February 28. Boston storyteller Angela Kessler will present a sampling of stories in a variety of moods (lighthearted to dark to very dark) and modes (spoken word, verse, and song). Angela has been entrancing audiences with stories from the Kalevala since 2005. Come experience the Kalevala for yourself.
