Celebrate the Sea at Washington, DC?s Only Maritime Music Festival!

We?re Back!


Heed the siren?s call on Saturday, November 1, 2014 and join us, rain or shine, at Washington, DC?s Naval Heritage Center for the second annual Capital Maritime Music Festival.


This year?s featured performer is John Roberts.


The day?s activities begin on a rousing note with the U.S. Navy Sea Chanters at 1 pm. Our family-friendly activities include concerts, workshops, children?s activities and cameo performances featuring the music, folklore and history of:

Sea warriorsMerchant sailorsAfrican-American sailors and dockworkersRecreational sailorsMaritime communitiesCanals and inland waterways


The event will culminate in an evening concert at 7 p.m. Concert performers include John Roberts, Janie Meneely and Calico Jenny, and the Washington Revels? Maritime Voices. Other performers during the festival include Alan Reid and Rob van Sante, Phil Wiggins, Jennifer Cutting and Steve Winick, and the U.S. Navy Band Sea Chanters.


Exhibitors will be on hand to educate the public and help lubbers plan their sea adventures.


Admission is free, but we would greatly appreciate a donation of $20.


The Capital Maritime Music Fest is hosted by the Naval Heritage Center and co-sponsored by the Washington Revels, the Folklore Society of Greater Washington. Further support comes from the Schooner Woodwind and from the Alexandria Seaport Foundation.


The Naval Heritage Center is located at 701 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, Washington, DC, 20004, near the Navy Memorial/Archives/Penn Quarter Metro Station (yellow and green lines).
