Announcing a rare opportunity in the DC area to hear your favorite swinging female trio in an intimate, acoustic setting. Girls from Mars (and their guys!) come into the home of Kathy & Marv Reitz for one of the ensemble?s most looked-forward-to performances on this year?s east coast tour.
ANNIE PATTERSON, LAUREN BONO, and WENDI BOURNE have been singing together for well over 20 years. Their tight, swinging three-part vocal harmonies and creative renditions of swing tunes from the 1930?s and 40?s are a joyous remembrance of the swing era. They have long been a favorite at the Glen Echo Spanish Ballroom Swing Dances.
Annie, Lauren & Wendi are fortunate indeed to be accompanied by: Ralph Gordon (bass) ? founding member of the groundbreaking folk band, Trapezoid, toured with the Fred Waring Orchestra, and can be heard on well over 100 recordings. He has been on staff at Swing Week at Augusta for the past 26 years. Howard Sitron (trumpet) - from Chicago, IL, Howard is a seasoned and versatile musician. He has played with The Spinners, the Four Tops, and with ?the Girls? for the past 6 years.
Annie Patterson (vocals) is a solo performer and recording artist hailing from Amherst, MA ? she co-authored the internationally acclaimed music book, ?Rise Up Singing?. Lauren Bono (vocals, snare drum) makes her home in Glorietta, NM ? she was a founding member of the swing band, Big Nite Out; studied with vocal instructor, Linda Carroll; and can be heard on radio voice-overs. Wendi Bourne (vocals, guitar) resides in Souderton, PA. She currently sings with The Coyotes, Swing City, and Beat?s Walkin?, as well as freelancing as a jazz vocalist.
