The Great American Square Dance Revival Part V

  • 13 Aug 2011
  • 8:30 PM - 11:30 PM
  • St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, Washington, DC
Yes folks, this is the genuine article: a good old-fashioned square dance, the kind that's delighted Americans for centuries in barns, churches, and living rooms all over this land. Everyone is welcome - you don't need any experience, partner, or costume. Just walk on in and dance.

We'll have kickin' live old-time music from the Capitol Possum Hunters, featuring the twin fiddling of Paul Brown and Scott Prouty, Brandt Ryder on guitar, Brent Feito on banjo, and Kevin Enoch on bass. The one and only Gabe Popkin will be back in town calling the dances, along with some special guests. Come on down for one last party with him before he ships off to Wisconsin!

The dance is held in the beautiful sanctuary of St. Stephens Church, a short walk from the Columbia Heights metro. Many thanks to the wonderful community of St. Stephens for sharing their space with all of us. And thanks to the Folklore Society of Greater Washington, of which we are a part(y).
