Danny Spooner *CONCERT SOLD OUT* (Special Event)

  • 17 Jul 2011
  • 8:00 PM - 10:30 PM
  • Cook's Treehouse, Oberlin, OH
Australian folksinger Danny Spooner is an FSGW favorite?a spellbinding singer of traditional and contemporary folk songs of Britain and Australia, as well as a raconteur, reciter of Bush poetry, and teller of tales. Danny?s performances are infused with a deep understanding of social history, and enlivened by his personal warmth. His immense repertoire of songs covers the full range of human emotions and experiences.

Danny?s music reflects his long and interesting life?from his childhood in the Cockney-speaking East End of London, to a working life aboard sailing barges, tugboats, and trawlers, to his many years as a university history professor and folk performer. All these influences are reflected in his songs, and nothing pleases him more than to get an audience singing along on choruses. His ability to make traditional music seem new, and make new songs seem old, is what makes him a memorable performer indeed.

Danny will be back in the D.C. area this summer. Don?t miss the chance to hear him.
