Matt Brown, young fiddler will be joined by our very own Bruce Hutton.Still in his mid-20s, Matt is a seasoned touring and recording artist, fiddle teacher, studio musician, and recording producer. He grew up hearing his dad play banjo, attending folk festivals, listening to his family?s old-time recordings, and learning violin. His fiddle teachers have included Brad Leftwich, Rafe Stefanini, Bruce Molsky, Dirk Powell, Bruce Greene and Rickie Simpkins. He took up banjo, guitar and singing in his teens, and has been mentored by Paul Brown (no relation), Ginny Hawker, Tracy Schwarz, David Holt and Charles Williams. For this concert he?ll be joined by long-time FSGW member Bruce Hutton, who?s been making old-time music since before Matt was born. He plays a roomful of instruments, mostly with strings, and is a member of Double Decker String Band and the Hesperus Ensemble?s crossover project. In addition to concerts and festivals, Bruce presents workshops and programs for schools and libraries on a wide range of folk subjects.
