A screening of the brand new film about the New Lost City Ramblers
?Always Been a Rambler? by Yasha Aginsky and the Arhoolie Foundation
Friday, September 25 ? 8 pm
This film traces the journey of The New Lost City Ramblers and their pioneering
influence in the revival of old time music. All along the way the group, Mike Seeger,
John Cohen, and Tracy Schwarz, (who replaced founder Tom Paley) gathered and
documented music at its sources, then exposed the old music to new audiences and
musicians. A treasure trove of archival footage, photos, and music, the film includes
performances and interviews by Doc Watson, Ricky Skaggs, Maybelle and Sara
Carter and many other masters of old time music. Bonus footage includes eight
rarely seen songs.
After the movie, we?ll chat with Hubie King of Old Time Jam on BluegrassCountry.org and other folks who can share more stories of the band and its influence, and
celebrate the current release of the retrospective NLCR collection by Smithsonian Folkways.
