Music by Waverley Station

Join us Saturday, October 11 for an FSGW English Country Dance special event led by master teacher and dance caller Bruce Hamilton from California. Music will be provided by Waverley Station: David Knight (fiddle), Liz Donaldson (piano) and Ralph Gordon (cello).

The afternoon workshop from 2:30-5 pm will emphasize technique andstyling ? how we can become better dancers, and bring more joy andsatisfaction to our dancing. The evening dance from 7:30-10:30 pm will be a casual social event. Bruce tries to bring the many elements of dance -- music, sociability, kinetic energy, friendly teamwork, control of the body, and choreography -- all into play in the dancing. He also tries to keep dancers aware of the wide variety of styles, rhythms and moods in this art of which we are custodians.

Bruce Hamilton has been doing English Dancing since 1967, and callingsince 1971. He co-founded the San Diego center of CDSS, started andruns the Mountain View, CA, English dance, was an early co-foreman ofBerkeley Morris, started the Deer Creek Morris Men, and is currentlyPresident of the Country Dance and Song Society. He's taught all over the place. His pet project is a workshop for English country dance callers, and he is also an avid Scottish country dancer and teacher. Bruce recently retired from his job as a computer cientist, and says, "I don't have any hobbies besides dancing -- not enough nights in the week!"

This is a special opportunity to experience Bruce's enthusiastic andinspirational dance leadership, fused with the exciting musical energy of Waverley Station, whose members have played extensively for English country dancing nationally, as well as being core musicians of the FSGW English country dance.
