As of 4 PM on the 15th, 333 is going ahead tonight. But please don't venture out if you feel that you can't travel safely to the venue. If you can make it, great... but stay safe!
COMMUNITY MUSIC NIGHT
Take your turn on stage, lead a song for everyone, or just sing along at our fourth sort-of-annual Community Music Night - a chance for you, the larger 333 and Naptown folk community, to share the music you love. Part open stage, part community sing, part jam session.
We plan to intersperse open mic performances with songs nominated by the community for group singing.
- If you're interested in an open mic slot - 1 or 2 songs - it's best to email us at email@example.com, as availability is limited. "Sing-along-able" songs are encouraged (but not required... you can do whatever you want as long as it's PG-rated). Group performances and original songs are welcome.
- In the spirit of a "play, pass, or request" song circle, we're planning to have an open song list for group singing (this is separate from open mic signup). You can put a song on the list and indicate whether or not you want to lead it yourself. You can also "upvote" a song that's already on the list, or sign up to lead a leaderless one. We'll fit in as many songs as we can.
- If you want to bring an acoustic instrument and play along, we'll have some "pit band" seating for that, with more elbow room. The etiquette is that song leaders can ask the "band" to play or not play, according to their comfort level.
And, of course, everyone is welcome to just have a seat, listen, and sing along, if you're so moved... which we hope you will be. Bringing your copy of Rise Up Singing is probably a good idea. (But we're hoping to project lyrics on a screen so that we don't have to depend on books or sheets.)
Instead of our regular attendance price, it'll be pay-what-you-like (we are asking for a suggested donation of $5 per person). Refreshments will be sold as usual.
We plan to begin the program at 7:30 PM, but informal jamming beforehand is a definite possibility!
